Displaying variants as separate products on the homepage requires one additional setup step in your Shopify theme.

This article explains how variant display works on the homepage and how to configure it correctly.

How variant display works on the homepage

Unlike collection pages, variant display on the homepage works only inside specific theme sections.

Variantify can display variants on the homepage only in sections of type:

• Featured Collection

Other section types are not supported.

Step 1 – Add a Featured Collection section

If you don’t already have one:

1. Go to Online Store → Themes → Edit theme
2. Click Add section
3. Select Featured collection
4. Assign the collection you want to showcase to the featured collection settings

You can add multiple Featured Collection sections if needed.

Step 2 – Configure homepage display settings in Variantify

Now open Variantify and configure homepage settings.

1. Go to Variantify → Homepage & Search Display
2. Find the section Homepage display settings
3. Enable Variant display
4. Set a product display limit

→ This defines how many variant products are shown per Featured Collection

5. Choose one or multiple options to split variants by (for example: Color, Size)
6. Select the collections you want to apply variant display to
7. Choose a variant title format
8. Click Save changes

⚠️ Important

If a collection is not used in a homepage section:

👉 Nothing will appear on the homepage, even if variant display is enabled.

Step 3 – Check the result on your homepage

Once configured, your homepage will display:

• One product card per variant
• Variants grouped by section (for example: Color variants, Size variants)
• Correct prices, images, and titles

Real example: Color variants and size variants

Here’s how merchants typically use homepage variant display:

Color variants

Showcase each color of a lamp, chair, sneaker, hoodie, etc.

👉 Ideal to increase browsing engagement and visual impact.

Size variants

Each size (S, M, L…) appears as its own product card.

👉 Useful for fashion and products where size drives choice.

Common limitations to be aware of

• Variant display works only with Featured Collection sections
• Collections must be selected both: in the theme editor and in Variantify settings
• Homepage display uses global settings, not per-collection settings
