How to test Variantify on a draft theme?
You can safely test Variantify on a draft or test theme before activating it on your live store.
How it works
Variantify is enabled per theme, using Shopify’s App embeds.
If you activate Variantify only on a draft theme:
- You will see a warning message inside the app
- This is expected behavior
- The warning simply means Variantify is not yet enabled on the live theme
How to preview Variantify on a draft theme
- Go to Online Store → Themes
- Click Edit theme for the draft theme you want to test
- In the Theme settings, go to App embeds
- Enable Variantify
- Click Save
- From the theme list, click Preview on the draft theme
You’ll be able to preview how variants are displayed on collection pages, exactly as they would appear once the theme is published.
Important note
- The warning will disappear automatically once Variantify is enabled on the live theme
- You can freely test, preview, and adjust settings on a draft theme without impacting your live store
